Rainforest Preservation

The rainforests are one of the most beautiful places on Earth today. They are home to over five million of Earth’s ten million species of plants, animals, and insects. Many of these are not found anywhere other than the rainforest. Now, lumber agencies, governments, and the landowners are cutting them down. Eighty percent of this is due to the increase of farmland to feed the growing population. Natives and animals are being killed or driven out of their homes by people burning or clearing the forests. One and one-half acres of rainforest are being lost every second.  If this is not stopped, the rainforest will be gone in 40 years.
